A heated umbrella handle adds a hand-warming function to the part you grip, while the canopy provides rain cover. Hand in Hand Umbrella Factory is discussing a custom umbrella development project with a Korean product developer whose second-generation heated handle currently fits specific umbrella models. Compatibility tooling for more umbrella types is still under discussion: this is not yet a universal-fit handle or a confirmed bulk-production offer.

What is the China–Korea development project about?
Holding an umbrella in cold rain leaves one hand exposed to the weather. That everyday experience is the starting point for our discussions with a Korean innovative-product developer: combining its heated handle with umbrellas customized by our factory.
The developer is looking for an umbrella supplier to make compatible umbrellas. We are exploring how a new handle function can expand the design options available to our customers. The aim is to bring the handle, canopy and overall umbrella design together as a coordinated product, rather than treat them as unrelated components.
Our discussions cover umbrella selection, canopy customization and the tooling needed for the handle connection. Broader compatibility remains a development objective, not an existing feature.
Heated handle specifications and current project status
| Item | Reported information | What buyers should understand |
|---|---|---|
| Product generation | Second-generation handle from the Korean developer | This identifies the developer’s handle, not a completed second-generation product from our factory. |
| Heating method | A heating element inside the handle | The handle warms the grip area; the canopy is not heated. |
| Temperature settings | 40°C, 50°C and 60°C, according to the developer | Reported settings are not independently verified contact-surface temperatures. Confirm final performance and operating instructions. |
| Umbrella compatibility | Specific matching umbrella models | Do not assume a direct fit on any existing umbrella. |
| Other application | The developer’s matching walking-stick products | Walking-stick and umbrella compatibility must be assessed separately. |
| Cooperation stage | Custom umbrella and compatibility-tooling discussions | Further model adaptation and tooling have not been confirmed as completed. |
Why appearance matters as well as the heating function
The handle’s appearance was one of the features that attracted our attention. The supplied reference shows black and white versions, with different views of the grip and controls. A coordinated canopy color and print can help make the complete umbrella visually consistent.
According to the Korean developer, designers from Samsung’s design team participated in the exterior design. This is information reported by the developer; it does not establish an official Samsung partnership, endorsement or certification of this umbrella project.
Canopy styles, colors and artwork can be discussed during customization. The finished combination still depends on the selected umbrella structure and handle connection. For the wider development process, see our guide to umbrella prototypes, 3D modeling and tooling.
Can a heated handle be fitted to ordinary umbrellas?
Not universally at present. The handle currently matches the Korean developer’s specific umbrella products. We are discussing adaptation tooling so that additional umbrella styles may become possible.
Before committing to a new combination, the project needs an agreed umbrella model and connection specification, followed by a physical sample that confirms the fit and operation of the assembled product. A similar-looking shaft or handle does not by itself establish compatibility.
For buyers, the practical sequence is to define the desired umbrella, review the connection with the developer, agree any tooling work and approve a complete sample. Our custom umbrella development guide explains questions to raise about tooling, responsibilities and design confidentiality.
Which applications are being explored?
Cold-weather commuting and waiting outdoors
Walking to work or waiting at a bus stop in cold, rainy weather can involve holding an umbrella for an extended period. A hand-warming grip addresses that specific use scenario. Suitability still depends on the final product instructions and operating limits.
Travel and everyday walking
City sightseeing, shopping and daily walks in wet, cold conditions are other possible applications. Umbrella size, portability, canopy design and the handle should be considered together for the intended user.
Matching walking-stick products
The developer also reports use of the handle on its matching walking sticks. That is a separate application: it should not be interpreted as making an umbrella suitable for use as a walking aid.
What should buyers confirm before requesting a sample?
A development enquiry is more useful when it defines both the umbrella requirements and the questions that remain open.
- Target market and use: destination country, expected weather conditions and intended users.
- Umbrella specification: preferred folding or straight style, size, opening mechanism, canopy color and logo or artwork.
- Handle integration: existing compatible models, connection dimensions and whether adaptation tooling is required.
- Heating and power information: final temperature behavior, power supply, charging arrangements if applicable, operating time and written instructions. These details are not established in this project update.
- Validation requirements: agree how the assembled product’s grip, connection, heating controls and suitability for wet-weather use will be checked. Do not assume a waterproof rating or certification from the photograph.
- Commercial scope: expected quantity, sample work, tooling responsibility, development costs and an achievable schedule.
No fixed battery life, waterproof rating, certification, price or lead time is claimed here. These require project-specific confirmation. Use our custom umbrella quotation checklist to prepare the umbrella portion of your enquiry.
Frequently asked questions
What part of the umbrella heats up?
The heating function is in the handle, using a heating element. The handle is intended to warm the hand while the canopy provides rain cover.
What temperature settings does the handle offer?
According to the Korean developer, the second-generation handle has settings of 40°C, 50°C and 60°C. These are reported settings, not independently verified surface-temperature measurements. Final performance and instructions need confirmation.
Can it fit any ordinary umbrella?
No. It currently fits specific umbrella models supplied by the Korean developer. Compatibility tooling for additional umbrella models is still under discussion; universal fit has not been achieved.
Can the umbrella canopy be customized?
Different canopy styles, colors and artwork can be discussed. The final design depends on the chosen umbrella model and successful integration with the heated handle.
Are battery life, pricing and delivery confirmed?
This project update does not establish battery capacity, charging specifications, operating time, an order price or a delivery commitment. Buyers should confirm these with the project team before ordering.
